I am a PhD student in the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University (Computational Biology Department), advised by Dr. Jose Lugo-Martinez. I build machine-learning systems for agentic scientific discovery, autonomous laboratories, and computational biology.
My lab-automation work includes:
- closed-loop serial-dilution experiments spanning a liquid handler, plate reader, robotic arm, and monitoring cameras;
- readiness and safety checks, including confirming that a plate is present and correctly oriented before transfer;
- agent-driven evaluation of dose-response curves and reruns with an adjusted concentration range; and
- simPCL, a simulator and benchmark generator for planning and fault recovery in programmable cloud laboratories.
During the limited Model Hardware Standard (MHS) research preview (announced by Anthropic), I led CMU’s work using MHS and built the drivers and orchestration for those physical instruments. Read the full case study.
Before CMU, I completed my Master’s at Bilkent University under Dr. A. Ercument Cicek, where I developed generative models for biological sequence optimization. My work has been published in venues including ChemBioChem, PLOS Computational Biology, and Bioinformatics Advances.
